Ron D. Hansen, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Hansen grew up on a farm near Colby, Kansas.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University.  After earning his Bachelor of Science in Life Science from K-State, he received a Kansas Board of Regents scholarship to attend optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry.  Dr. Hansen received the Matocha Ullman Excellence in Optics award while at Houston, and completed his clinical externship at Evans Army Hospital, Ft. Carson, Colorado. 

Dr. Hansen joined in practice with Dr. Douglas E. Ball in 1990.  In addition to continuously delivering excellence in eye care for his patients, Dr. Hansen has offered his commitment to his profession and his community.  He has served on numerous local boards and committees, including Breakfast Optimist Club, Rotary Club, United Way, HCC Endowment Association and the NJCAA Basketball Tournament. Dr. Hansen has been elected to the board of directors of the Kansas Optometric Association, where he has served as President. He is a previous recipient of the Kansas Optometric Association Young Optometrist of the Year award.  He has presented continuing education lectures to numerous school nurse and paraoptometric groups. Dr. Hansen has been accepted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

He currently serves as the President of the Kansas State Board of Examiners in Optometry.  Dr. Hansen and his wife, Traci, have three children, Megan, Sarah, and Rachel.  He enjoys sports, home improvement projects, woodworking, and time with his family.

Benjamin L. Whittredge, O.D.

Dr. Whittredge is a native of Hutchinson and graduated from Buhler High School before studying Ecology at the University of Kansas. Following 4 years of undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas, Dr. Whittredge attended Indiana University School of Optometry in Bloomington, Indiana on a Naval Health Professions Scholarship.  While in Indiana, he completed his undergraduate work and attended four years of optometry school.  Dr. Whittredge performed external clinical rotations during the 4th year of optometry school, including a 3 month rotation in central Mexico at Guanajuato Eye Clinic, and a rotation and a surgical specialty clinic in Indianapolis.Following graduation from optometry school, Dr. Whittredge served 4 years as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Naval Health Clinic Charleston located in Charleston, South Carolina.  While on active duty, he was awarded medals for Outstanding Volunteer Service for efforts with VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) and the Lions Club, as well as the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for productivity and leadership in the clinic.  Also while on active duty, he was nominated for Charleston’s Health Care Hero’s award, and Federal Service Employee of the Year.  He has also served as President of the VOSH Kansas Chapter, as well as President of the Hutchinson Noon Lions Club.  Dr. Whittredge is married to Amy, and he has four children, Alexis, Liliana, William, and Cecelia. He enjoys traveling with his family, cooking together, and spending time outdoors.

Matthew J. Lorson, O.D.

Dr. Matthew J. Lorson is a native of Hope, Kansas, raised on a farm near town.  He completed his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology.  While attending K-State, Dr. Lorson worked in a local optometry office as an assistant to several doctors.  After completing his undergraduate degree, he attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, where he also served as a tutor and teaching assistant in ophthalmic optics.

The principles and knowledge he learned in the four years of optometry school has prepared him to focus on providing excellent eyecare to patients. Dr. Lorson completed externships in his fourth year of optometry school at Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation in Bethel, Alaska.  There, he saw patients at an Indian health clinic that serves 58 indigenous communities in the southwest part of the state, with a focus on ocular disease.  His other externship was at the Family Eyecare Center in Leavenworth, Kansas, focusing on primary care.

During optometry school, Dr. Lorson also made an international service trip as part of the Student Volunteer in Optometric Service to Humanity organization to Belmopan, Belize in May 2018.  During the week he was there, he assisted with providing care to over 800 patients.

Dr. Lorson is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.  When not seeing patients in the office, he enjoys collecting vinyl records, playing the piano, disc golf, Kansas City Chiefs football, and spending time with his family.
